One of THE best flavour combinations ever is chocolate orange in my opinion (closely followed by mint chocolate) and I cannot believe I’ve not made this mousse before now. I do make a fudgy chocolate pot loosely based on the below recipe but the chocolate orange is delicious!
Now, I have had people try my avocado chocolate mousse before and they weren’t convinced. Sometimes the avocado taste can still linger but this mousse will change the mind of the biggest sceptic I’m sure.
As the mousse is rich, I’ve put servings from 2-6 as I think split just between two it will be too rich but I think 4 servings would be just a perfect size to end a dinner or to have as a snack. This mousse could also be served in 6 small glasses with spoons at a buffet. Whichever way you decide to have this mousse, enjoy every mouthful!
Oranges are high in vitamin C and there have been studies showing that fresh orange juice may help prevent kidney stones. Don’t forget about the orange peel either, as it has been shown that it has many beneficial antioxidants.
-1 avocado, peeled & de-seeded
-1/4 cup dairy-free milk
-3 Tbsp. maple syrup
-1 1/2 Tbsp. coconut oil
-1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
-1 Tbsp. fresh orange juice
-zest of 1 orange
-2 heaped Tbsp. cacao powder
How To Make
Place all ingredients (reserving some orange zest decoration) into a high-speed blender or food processor.
Blend until smooth, stopping every so often to scrape down the sides.
Spoon the mousse into ramekins or small glasses, sprinkle over the reserved orange zest.
Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
Will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days if stored in a sealed container.
