BBQ Sauce

BBQ sauce, gluten free, dairy free, vegan

I love this sauce.  I tried a few variations and the recipe below is the best I developed, in my opinion.  I have it with burgers, on sandwiches, wraps, or just as a side for dunking chips into!  It’s really easy to make and doesn’t contain lots of random ingredients that a lot of shop bought sauces do.

The recipe below makes a thick sauce but if you prefer thinner, then just add a little water until you get the consistency you’re after

Ingredients

-1 Tbsp. avocado oil or olive oil

-1/2 brown onion, peeled & diced

-1 garlic clove, peeled & roughly chopped

-1 Tbsp. tomato puree

-1 cup passata

-2 tsp. smoked paprika

-1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard

-2 Tbsp. maple syrup

-2 Tbsp. molasses

-salt to taste

How To Make

Heat the oil in a large saute pan over a medium heat, add the onion and saute for 3-4 minutes.

Add the garlic to the pan and cook for a further 1-2 minutes, until the garlic becomes fragrant.

Add the tomato puree and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the remaining ingredients to the pan and stir well.

Leave uncovered and simmer for 10 minutes.

Remove sauce from heat and allow to cool slightly before blending.  Do a taste check and add salt if needed.

Store sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 14 days.

Enjoy
