Towards the end of last year and at the beginning of this year I had seen lots of different recipes popping up on social media for different turmeric drinks and I was very intrigued by them. I already knew that turmeric is a power house of goodness for health so I decided to play about with a drink recipe and the end result is this latte.
I use coconut milk in a carton by a company called Rude Health here in the UK as they don’t have any dodgy ingredients in their milks but feel free to use any milk which you prefer. I love the creaminess the coconut milk gives the drink as it balances out the earthy taste of the turmeric.
Turmeric is widely known to be extremely beneficial for health. The healthy component of turmeric is curcumin which is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and also gives turmeric its vivid colour. The anti-inflammatory properties are believed to be able to prevent and treat arthritis, diabetes and cardiovascular health.
To get the full benefit of turmeric it’s better to have black pepper alongside it as the piperine of the pepper enhances the health benefits of the curcumin making it more effective.
-1 cup coconut milk
-1 tsp. ground turmeric
-1/2 tsp. coconut sugar
-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
-1/4 tsp. ground black pepper.
How To Make
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for about 2 minutes. Pour into a small pan and warm over a low to medium heat (you don’t want to boil the latte).
Pour into your mug and sprinkle over some cinnamon.
